KTOY Nominees Visit Dodge City Public Schools

What an absolute honor it was to host the inspiring Kansas Teacher of the Year nominees! We had such a wonderful time showcasing the amazing things happening in Dodge City Public Schools.
The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Superintendent Jason Scheck, followed by an initial tour of DCHS led by Monica Cookson and Jamie Blackburn. A true highlight was watching our high school Teacher Cadets engage in a special Q&A panel with these exceptional educators—what a powerful moment for our future teachers!
From there, the group visited Ross Elementary to see innovative, team-based staffing in action during a 3rd-grade Social Studies lesson and also got a glimpse of 1st-grade reading interventions. Next, we traveled to Bright Beginnings to share where the educational journey all begins for our youngest learners.
At DCMS, the nominees were greeted by helpful StuCo members who served them coffee and tea in the school's fantastic cafe. The visit concluded back at the high school for a special, behind-the-scenes tour of our incredible CTE programs. It was a fantastic day of collaboration and connection!
