DODGE CITY, KS — Dodge City Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Monica Blanco as the new Assistant Principal of Dodge City High School. Ms. Blanco currently serves as a 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Dodge City Middle School, and her transition to the DCHS administrative team marks an exciting new chapter in her dedicated service to the district.

Ms. Blanco’s appointment follows a rigorous path of professional development and specialized education. She most recently completed the Building Principal Program at Fort Hays State University (Fall 2025). Her academic credentials include:

In addition to her degrees, Ms. Blanco has demonstrated a commitment to mentorship and district-wide growth, having completed the Western Kansas Leadership Academy (2025-2026) and Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Mentor Training through Baker University (2024).

For Ms. Blanco, this role is a meaningful homecoming. Having grown up in the Dodge City school community, she finds her work deeply personal.

"Working with students and families who remind me so much of my own experiences makes the work especially meaningful. I feel fortunate to be part of a district that is so dedicated to its students and staff."

When she isn't supporting the students and staff at DCHS, Ms. Blanco stays active by training for half-marathons and fitness challenges. She is an avid traveler who loves discovering new places, but she finds her greatest joy in spending quality time with friends, family, and her cat, Azriel.
