Paying for Meals

Meal Charging Policy 2020-2021 

Nutritious meals are very important to a child's learning. USD 443 Nutrition program understands this and wants to give all children the opportunity to have a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Below are the districts guidelines pertaining to meal charging. 

Students New to district: Students new to the district will be required to pay for meals until a meal application has been processed. A substitute meal will be provided if funds are not available by the parent. This meal will consist of a breakfast bar, juice and milk for breakfast. A peanut butter sandwich, fresh vegetable, apple and milk for lunch. 

Approved Reduced, Full Pay students: 

No charging is allowed for 9-12 (Alternate meals will be offered) 

PK-8 Students: at any point during the school year, a student shall have no more than 3 outstanding unpaid charges. 

Pre K-5 students: Payment reminders will be sent home with students when their account reaches less than $8.00 for a paid price student and $2.00 for a reduced price student. Email reminders can be sent if the guardian has a current email address on file. 

6-8 students: Verbal reminders will be given to students. Email reminders can be sent to parents if an accurate guardian email address is available. 

If money is not received after a student has 3 outstanding meal charges, a student will be offered a substitute meal consisting of the following: 

Breakfast: breakfast bar, juice and milk. Lunch: Peanut butter sandwich, fresh vegetable, apple and milk. 

These meals will be given to the student no more than three days. At that time the school counselor and Principal will be notified. 

USD 443 may send any un-paid meal debt to collections twice a year: the first part of December and the first part of April. 

In an effort to help parents manage their students accounts USD 443 does offer On-line payments by accessing Skyward family accounts. Please contact your child's school to set up a skyward account.

Online Payment Instructions

As a convenience to parents, the Dodge City Public Schools now provides parents an easy way to add money to their student’s food service account and to pay for school related fees. Online payments can be made into food service accounts and for fees through the Skyward Family Access parent portal they currently use. We have contracted with RevTrak, a national credit card payment processor, to provide a secure site for making payments.

Online Payments Are Currently Being Accepted

Parents can make payments online while on their home or work computer, any time of the day. If their student’s food service balance is low, it only takes a few minutes to add money to it using their VISA or MasterCard credit or debit card. Payments are made through the student’s Skyward Family Access account.

To Make Online Payments the parent will need:

  • MasterCard or VISA (Debit or Credit Card) – card number & expiration date
  • Skyward Family Access Login and Password

Payments made through Family Access will immediately be posted to the student’s food service account. All credit card statements will show the payment has been made to the Dodge City Public Schools.

Instructions for Making a Payment

  1. Login to Skyward Family Access
  2. Select “Food Service” or “Fee Management” from “General Information” menu on the left
    • For Food Service, View Balance and select “Make Online Payment
    • For Fee Management, select “Make Online Payment” and select which fee to apply the payment to by clicking on the corresponding “Pay Charge” box
  3. Enter payment amount and select “Pay with RevTrak
  4. After being redirected into the RevTrak Web Store shopping cart, if you wish to purchase additional optional fees from the Web Store, click on the Continue Shopping link. Select the fee(s) you would like to pay for, enter the required information, and click Buy Now to add it to your cart.
  5. Once finished adding fees, verify payment amount and select “Go to Checkout”
  6. If a new customer, select “I am a new customer” and enter your email address. If a returning customer select “I am a returning customer” and enter your email address and password. Select Sign in.
  7. Enter your Billing Information, Payment Information, and create a password
  8. Verify information for accuracy and select “Complete Order
  9. Payment will be processed and Receipt can be viewed and printed.
  10. Logout
