Meet Bianca Alvarez, Principal/Head Start Director of Bright Beginnings. Alvarez started her career with Dodge City Public Schools twenty-six years ago as a paraprofessional at Northwest Elementary. Her principal, Kathy Ramsour, often told the story of observing Bianca in the airport, playing with her daughter Marixsa before she hired her. When Bianca applied for a job at Northwest Elementary, Kathy hired her immediately because she just knew that Bianca would be a great teacher. That is how Alvarez’s career in education began.
Alvarez received her teaching degree and accepted the job of First Grade Teacher in the Dual Language program. Her students and families were her inspiration. Later she worked as a Parent Involvement Coordinator for the ESL/Migrant Department; her responsibilities included securing resources for families to help their children be successful in school. Most recently, Alvarez served as the Family and Community Specialist at Bright Beginnings, where she continued supporting children and families.
Bianca Alvarez attended Dodge City Community College and received her Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Newman University and her Master of Science in educational administration and leadership from Kansas State University. Alvarez also serves as co-chair on the Southwest Kansas Interagency Coordinating Council and is a member of the Cultural Relations Advisory Board with the City of Dodge City, Vice President of the Community Housing Association of Dodge City (CHAD) with Ford County/Dodge City Development Corporation and the Treasurer of the Dodge City Middle School Site Council.
Bianca has five children, Shreya, Trinidad, Marixsa, Starla, and Natasha, who are her world! If she finds a few quiet moments, she loves to crochet but only makes newborn blankets and hats!
