Stevenson throws the first pitch at a Royals game

Susanne Stevenson, Kansas Teacher of the Year 2022, was invited to throw out the first pitch at a Royals game on June 3^rd.  She played softball her entire childhood and throughout high school.

Stevenson grew up going to Royals games; her dad even named her Slugger after the Royal’s mascot.  To be able to throw out the first pitch on teacher’s night was such a full circle experience for her. 

It was even more special to experience the honor with her fiancee Jorge Martinez, who served as her catcher.  She shared the limelight beside the 2022 Missouri Teacher of the Year, James Young.

Stevenson is appreciative of the Royals organization and their effort for recognizing and for honoring all teachers.
